NEW PUBLIC SAFETY BUILDING BREAKS GROUND
12-03-2010
Work on New Britain's new public safety building has recently begun that will house a new police station and offer retail shops fronting Main Street.

The new building's foot print will be on the corner of Chestnut and Main Street and consist of approximately 85,000 square feet on the 2.5 acre parcel formerly known as Central Park Plaza.

The new complex will take 18 months to complete (weather permitting) and is being financed through "Build America Bonds" and "Recovery Zone Economic Development Bonds" through the federal government.

Bond utilization will save New Britain approximately 7.5 million dollars in interest payments.
